My Element 2 was my self-directed project. I chose the book ‘Miss Peregrine’s home for peculiar children’ by Ransom Riggs as a theatre production. I really enjoyed designing for this as the children in the story have different peculiarities. This allowed for a variety of textures and colours as I used their peculiarities to help design their costumes. The dress I designed was for ‘Emma’ who has fire powers. This was a fun garment to make, the dress itself is a simple silhouette but the textures of the fire embroidery and layers of orange and red organza brought her peculiarity to life.
